A Decade of Service

Elements Financial's 10th Annual Purpose Day

As a member-owned credit union, Elements embraces a strong responsibility to support the community through volunteerism, grants, sponsorships, and employee giving.

In 2017, Elements furthered that commitment by dedicating one day to close its branches and give back to the communities in which they serve. This annual event, known as Purpose Day, has become an essential part of the organization’s mission.

Now, each year, employees across the organization, both in-office and remote, come together to support initiatives that align with one or more of Elements Corporate Pillars of Giving: Homelessness & Housing, Healthy Lifestyles, and Youth Development. What began as a single day of volunteering has grown into an annual tradition of impact that defines how Elements lives its purpose.

The credit union industry is based on people helping people, and Elements models that by allowing us to give back to the community every year.

- Emily Wolfington, Chief People Officer

On the morning of Friday, June 5, groups of Elements employees met at various non-profit locations across Indianapolis to give back with time, talent, and treasure. Here’s a quick look at where they served:

Bradford Woods: Indiana University’s outdoor center that empowers youth and adults through education, leadership development, and outdoor experiences. Volunteers beautified the outdoor areas by painting, mulching, and performing other outdoor projects. Learn more about Bradford Woods

Coburn Place: An Indianapolis nonprofit that supports survivors of domestic violence by providing safe housing and resources. This group of volunteers was responsible for cleaning, organizing, and light groundskeeping. Learn more about Coburn Place

Englewood Community Development Corporation: A community organization that improves housing in Indianapolis's Near Eastside. A team of employees supported the effort with landscaping and cleanup work. Learn more about Englewood CDC

Home Repairs for Good: Formerly known as NeighborLink Indianapolis, this non-profit offers free home repairs and accessibility upgrades for low-income seniors and people with disabilities. Volunteers helped tear down a garage at this site. Learn more about Home Repairs for Good

In addition to the day of volunteering, Elements also donated $1,000 to each organization to help cover project supplies. Any remaining funds were provided to the nonprofits to further support their missions.
